Hi, I’m Carine De Bruyn.

I am a personal development, relationship and leadership coach, mentor and soundboard to many who have taken transformation and growth seriously in both their personal and leadership journeys.
I am a South African (and now Swiss) living in Geneva, Switzerland since 2006. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with majors in Economics, Industrial Psychology and Clinical Psychology, and an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. I am a certified John Maxwell transformational and leadership coach. I am also a Ontological Coach in training.
Over the past 17 years, I dedicated myself to the growth and development of others through pastoral counselling, mentoring, leadership development, and life coaching.
I am also a Netball coach where it has been my delight to coach and encourage hundreds of young girls from all around the world at the International School of Geneva.
I am an eternal student with a passion for everything related to our way of being. I am passionate about systems psychology, emotional health, spiritual and relational maturity, and the intersection of these fields with neuroscience. I love engaging with others in such a way that they walk more meaningfully and with increasing maturity in every sphere of their lives.

My Approach

"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds." - R.D. Laing
"…encourage leaders to focus first on their own integrity and on the nature of their own presence rather than through techniques for manipulating or motivating others." - Edwin Friedman

awareness & observation

Growing in awareness and the ability to observe our own way of being, and that of our surroundings,  is a key to growth and transformation. Our own thoughts and narratives, our moods and emotions and our bodies form an integral part of our way of being. Learning to make shifts in these domains lead to lasting change.

self-leadership

Growing in self-definition and taking personal responsibility for our own way of being and destiny, is what ultimately leads to the transformation of oneself and of contexts we are part of. This is true in a relationship, family, team or business context.  In simple terms it means shifting from a focus on others to oneself leads to personal and collective growth.

practise & reflection

Growth and transformation also come through a consistent commitment to thoughtful practise and reflection. Putting into practice new information, taking time for reflection and then incorporating what we have learned anew, leads to change in our way of being and doing.  This stands in contrast to our default of gathering more and more information while remaining unchanged as we continue to operate in our habitual auto-pilot mode.
